Bring a torch: night-time bat walk through Wanstead Park

The Wren Wildlife Group are inviting residents on a bat walk through Wanstead Park this month.

"Wanstead Park supports quite a large population of bats, and we'll be looking for soprano and common pipistrelles, Daubenton's and noctule bats around the lakes," said Tim Harris, who will be leading the event.

A detector that converts bat echolocation 'shouts' into audible sounds will be used to identify the different species.

The 90-minute walk will begin at the park's tea hut at 9pm on 11 August.
