Wanstead Library will reopen this month following extensive refurbishments.

To celebrate, residents are invited to share their memories of Wanstead at a special heritage teatime event on the opening day (14 July from 2.30pm to 3.30pm; booking required).

On 15 July, the celebrations continue with a day of family fun, including a magic show, balloon modelling, face painting, treasure hunts and crafts activities (10am to 3pm). Children aged four to 12 will also be able to register to take part in this year's Summer Reading Challenge.

The improved library on Spratt Hall Road has a new floor and has been redecorated throughout, with study spaces, public PCs and a flexible layout to enable events such as author talks and theatre shows to take place.
