Two residents will open their gardens to the public this month as part of the charitable National Garden Scheme.

Ann Holmes of 10 Wellesley Road, Wanstead will be inviting guests into her garden on 16 June (1pm to 6pm; £3). "You can sit beneath a grapevine, surrounded by pots of summer colour, listen to the bubbling water feature and – salud! – you could be in Spain!" said Ann.

In Snaresbrook, Lucy St Ville will also open her garden at Victoria Lodge, Hermitage Walk on 30 June (2pm to 5pm; £4).
