Protecting our swans: volunteer offers crucial tips for breeding season

With swan breeding season underway, a local swan rescue volunteer has offered guidance to help protect the birds.

“Never throw food onto a nest; the females will not eat often during the incubation period and it will just attract predators. Keep dogs under control; there is no way of knowing how your dog will react to a bird with a two-metre wingspan protecting its nest! And never share specific locations of nests online; there are folks who will target these for wildlife crime,” said Louisa Green.
