Wanstead Leisure Centre expansion: next phase to start in June

The expansion of Wanstead Leisure Centre – to provide a 25m swimming pool and new dance studio – is on track to be completed in late 2022.

“The project is in the pre-construction design phase, with the intention of work starting this June,” said a Redbridge Council spokesperson.

The work will include the demolition of the 1960s teaching block at the front of the adjoining Wanstead High School site. A modernised three-storey structure will be built in its place, alongside other upgrades to the school and leisure centre.
