Canvas Call – Cup of Art featured artwork

Cup of Art returns this month, giving local artists and residents a chance to connect. Laura Skye and Elsie Drew report

We are happy to announce the third Cup of Art exhibition to be held at The George and Dragon this month. In our previous two shows, artists have sold works and received commissions. Even more importantly, artists have formed friendships and connections within our vibrant artistic community.

As the founders of Cup of Art, we wanted to create an opportunity for other artists to be able to display their work professionally to the public. This has been made possible by the fantastic support of The George and Dragon pub and restaurant, who provide the space and refreshments. And then there is The Stow Brothers estate agents, who not only print our leaflets and posters but also offer space for the artists to show their work after the show. And, of course, the Wanstead Village Directory, which supports all our local events and keeps us well informed each month.

We are a non-profit-making organisation, so space for artists to exhibit is free of charge, but limited. We like to have white tablecloths for the show and we have a supply of these if you don’t have one. We can also help with small table easels to show the pictures, as we cannot hang anything on the walls.

The George and Dragon supply free tea and coffee if you would like to stay and speak to the artists. We do supply a donation box if you would like to make a contribution to the tea and coffee and this will go to the preferred charity of The George and Dragon.
